First Lights - Kinjarling
First Lights – Kinjarling invites audiences to embark on an immersive journey through ancestral pathways during the Djeran season of 2026, guided by Menang knowledge-holders and artists. This unique experience unfolds as a trilogy over three weekends, blending cultural heritage with contemporary artistry.
The event kicks off with guided walking and sound journeys across Menang Country, allowing participants to connect deeply with the land and its stories. These immersive walks will be followed by stunning drone light shows that weave together narratives, constellations, and the significance of place.
Conceived by Menang Custodians and artists—including Kim Scott, Lindsey Dean, Averil Dean, Glen Colbung, Cass Lynch, and Larry Blight—First Lights showcases the powerful stories of Koi Kyenunu-Ruff (Stirling Ranges), Borongur (Porongorups), and Mamang Koort (Princess Royal Harbour). As the sun sets, these tales will resonate through the night, transforming the sky into a canvas of light and story.
This evocative event not only honours Menang culture but also invites audiences to reflect on their connection to the land, making for a memorable celebration of art and heritage.
