Albany Then and Now
Explore the history of Albany/Kinjarling through a visually rich exhibition at the Museum of the Great Southern. The centrepiece will be a projection of historically significant panoramas that have been digitally layered together to uncover a contrast of both change, and continuity.
You will be encouraged to reflect on the changing face of Albany: a place of resilience with deeply rooted Menang heritage, rich in seafaring and military connections, historically significant streetscapes, unique architecture, and stunning natural beauty.
Centred around a 180-degree screen, narrated tours will explore specific panoramas using different voices and perspectives – visitors can dive down streets and alleyways to discover change over time, and different stories from those who have made this place their home. An engaging hub with activities for visitors of all ages, Albany Then and Now will celebrate the cultural life of Albany today, its music, art and community, and allow you to share your own perspectives.
